We are pleased to host a very special event: the dedication of the Roland S. Barth Welcome Center at Hidden Valley Nature Center.
Roland was known to all as a man whose deepest passion was his love for and commitment to the natural world. The woods and the fields, the ocean and the shore, the wind and the sky–all nourished his soul. His deep roots in midcoast Maine made this passion a reality as he took meticulous care of his Alna farm, house and garden; helped found and support the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association and its successor, Midcoast Conservancy; and led a community effort to permanently protect a large block of land adjacent to Hidden Valley Nature Center.
As the Welcome Center came to fruition over the past year, it seemed only appropriate that the place that will welcome visitors to Roland’s beloved Maine woods be named in honor of him. His spirit of adventure and curiosity and lifelong learning imbue the Welcome Center’s purpose as it invites people to explore and cherish HVNC as he did.
Please join us at the Roland S. Barth Welcome Center on Saturday, October 29th, from 12-2 pm for a dedication ceremony and light refreshments. The dedication will occur promptly at 12:30 pm.
This is a free event, but we would appreciate if attendees could please RSVP below.
We look forward to seeing you at the dedication!
