Property Monitor Training

  • Midcoast Conservancy 290 US-1 Edgecomb, ME, 04556 United States (map)

Do you enjoy hiking and discovering new places? Come take a hike for conservation’s sake by volunteering as a property monitor with Midcoast Conservancy! You see, each of the 14,000 acres of land under Midcoast Conservancy’s stewardship need to be monitored each year. This ensures that there have been no timber tresspasses, dumping, or other activities that hurt ecological integrity and harm wildlife habitat. There are monitoring options for everyone- ranging from easy strolls along established trails to challenging bushwhacks deep into the wild places of Midcoast Maine.

Monitoring happens from September through November each year on lands that Midcoast Conservancy owns, in addition to privately-owned lands that Midcoast Conservancy holds easements on. This training will go over everything you need to know to volunteer in this fun and important role. Staff also accompany monitors their first year.

If you can’t make this training, there will be a second one on Saturday August 26th from 10-12pm at Hidden Valley Nature Center (131 Egypt Road, Jefferson ME).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Isobel Curtis at isobel@midcoastconservancy.org or 207-389-5163.
