Late summer/early fall in Maine is a time of harvest. Fruits and nuts drop from the trees. What can you do with all this abundance and how do you steward the land while at the same time? This plant walk will cover many edibles, but especially focus on acorn harvest and processing.
Join forager and wild food cook Rachel Alexandrou at the Bass Falls Preserve to walk and learn about late spring wild edibles. The walk will last 1.5 hours and end with a wild tasting made by Rachel to give you a glimpse into what you can do with the local wild flora.
Foraging will require walking on uneven terrain. No other experience is required. Please bring sturdy shoes, a water bottle, a notebook and writing utensil. If you’d like to take some acorns home to process them, bring a bag or container with you.
