Join us this summer at Hidden Valley Nature Center, where we’re uniting new woodland owners in the Midcoast community for a socially-focused, 3- part New Landowners 101 Series.

Learn practical hands-on skills from our panel of experts, including trail building, extracting wood from your woodlot, and managing your land with a wildlife focus. Learn about all 3 of our New Landowner 101 Classes here.

Trail Stewardship and Basic Skills

Description: This one-day workshop will focus on sustainable trail layout and design fundamentals. A basic understanding of hillside hydrology, how trails should work, developing trail eyes, structural options, construction tactics, proper pruning techniques for woody plants, restoration of damaged trails, and prioritizing maintenance through trail triage will be the basis for this workshop.

Objectives: Participants will demonstrate trail stewardship skills by applying knowledge learned thru hands-on demonstration throughout the workshop. Participants will receive direct feedback from the instructor on how to improve their techniques.

Instructor: Professional Trail Builder Erin Amadon, Owner of Town 4 Trail Services, LLC, will instruct the workshop. Erin has been a professional trail builder for 25 years and has managed layout, design, restoration, construction, and training projects for a wide array of clients. Town 4 Trail Services, LLC is a member of the Professional Trailbuilders Association, and Erin currently serves as a board member.
