From the mushrooms in your yard to the lichen on a gravestone to the yeast in our bread, fungi are all around us. During this half mile hike, we will explore the mushrooms, lichens, and other fungi we encounter and discuss why they are cool and important to the forest!

In partnership with the Jefferson Public Library, this event is a learning opportunity for children on summer break. We will learn the basics of fungi biology, answering questions like: What even is a fungus? What do mushrooms do? Why do lichens grow on trees? Why does food get moldy?

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. The Wild Child Series is designed for children 6 years-18 years, plus supervising parents.

Capacity is limited, so we kindly ask that only the amount of adult family members necessary to supervise attending children register for this event.
