We’re Moving!
We will be selling our office building on Route 1 in Edgecomb, and in order to prepare for that, We’re Moving!
Our main office will soon be moving to our existing Waldoboro Office, located at 25 Friendship Road. The sale of our office building and move to Waldoboro aligns with our Board’s decision to evaluate our facilities and office footprint to ensure that we can more efficiently focus on our conservation priorities. We invite everyone to plan a visit to our Waldoboro office!
For all nonprofits fiscal responsibility is key to a healthy and sustainable organization. These are challenging times for many nonprofits, and our Board of Directors is working to align anticipated resources in the coming year with our operational needs. During Covid it became clear that we do not need two offices. At this time, selling the Edgecomb building makes good business sense for a few reasons:
Flexibility is one of the benefits for Midcoast Conservancy staff; as all work hybrid we may only need to spend one or two days in our office but much more on the road conducting meetings, doing field work, or at a home office.
As we seek to advance our organization’s greater mission, reducing our overhead frees up resources that can be redirected to land conservation and other pressing conservation opportunities as well as supporting our operations.
Moving to Waldoboro also gives us an opportunity to enhance our ability to be part of a Main Street culture - as evidenced by our participation in the Art Walk where we display local high school students’ artwork.
Relocating to our Waldoboro Office also gets us closer to some of our preserves, so when you may want to visit, we can also go for a walk!
While the move does mean the Village Bookshop will be relocating, they are not going away and are actively looking at options. We have been working with the Waldoboro Public Library as a community partner for six years and developed a good relationship. The Library Director Cathrina Skov has shared, “We really appreciate that Midcoast Conservancy let us use this space these past years. It gave us an opportunity to raise needed funds for the library while adding something to the community.” For updates on the library, visit their Facebook page.
Interested parties should review the listing and contact real estate broker Bonnie Stone to arrange a showing.
